　　1888年学校作为the state's agricultural school受特许，1892年成为the Rhode Island College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts。1905年改名为Rhode Island State College, 教育课程在以前的基础上有了增加和修改，1951年通过会员大会的法案成为罗德岛大学University of Rhode Island
