A Chinese teenage boy is getting popular not because he is a math prodigy, but due to his zeal for politics.

　　13-year-old Huang Yibo began to watch Xinwen Lianbo (prime time news on China Central Television) at the age of two. He has been reading People's Daily and Reference News (Cankao XiaoXi, 参考消息) every day since he was seven. Up to today, he has published over 100 articles in influential Chinese newspapers.

　　The public interest also stems from the boy's eye-catching five-bar armband (五道杠) as the deputy chief of all of Wuhan city's young pioneers, a position that's so high that most adults never heard of it.

　　The boy has received a mixture of praise, doubts, suggestions and mockery. Some say his interest cannot be a natural personal choice, others believe that his childhood is incomplete considering most kids' are playing games at this age.

　　13岁的黄艺博最近是微博热门话题人物。他两岁开始看《新闻联播》，7岁时每天读《人民日报》、《参考消息》，现已发表100多篇文章，手臂上带着很多人闻所未闻的五道杠。他对政治和实事的关注引来的更多的是舆论的质疑和嘲讽。

　　文中的five-stroke armband就是指少先队员“五道杠”的队章。80后的朋友们小时候很多都佩戴过这种带杠的队章。目前少先队中最高只有three-stroke armband(三道杠)的大队长，five-stroke armband代表的总队长是一些地方的尝试。
