本月16日，TIMES公布了2010-2011年度的世界大学排名，榜单显示，加拿大9所大学入围200强。这9所大学分别是多伦多大学，英属哥伦比亚大学，麦吉尔大学，麦克马斯特大学，阿尔伯塔大学，维多利亚大学，蒙特利尔大学，达尔豪斯大学，西蒙菲沙大学。
 

      据悉，《泰晤士报》世界大学排行榜是该报高等教育杂志编辑制作的，以《泰晤士报》教育副刊的形式发表。《泰晤士报》高等教育世界大学排行榜已经连续发布七年。本次排名规则有较大的改变。其测评标准减轻了大学名声和历史遗产在过去占到的权重比，提高了考察大学三个核心任务：研究、教学和知识转移这三个硬性指标的分量。此外，与其他世界排名体系有所不同的是，该排行榜还衡量教学环境——包括学校的授课声誉。五类衡量参数及权重为：授课 (评估学习环境)30%，论文引用影响(测算研究影响力)32.5%，研究(包括数量、收入和名声)30%，国际师资和学生以及教师和学生比例5%，工业收入(测算知识转移)2.5%。

　　留学专家指出，借助于《泰晤士报》的影响和排行榜本身的参考价值，该排行榜在世界上较有影响力，对学生海外择校有一定借鉴价值。但任何排行榜都存在局限，仅用一种方法不可能正确衡量大学的表现和质量。建议学子根据自身情况，在专家和专业机构指导下选择适合自己的专业。
